Saint-Émilion's history goes back to prehistoric times and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with fascinating Romanesque churches and ruins stretching all along steep and narrow streets.

Just over the campsite, the "Chateau de Rauzan" was built ay the 13th century by John Lackland Duke of Normandy and King of England and was witness of the Hundred year War.

In 1933, a group of Rauzan winegrowers built a "common storage for wine" which would have become the first French Wine Cooperative Cellar to produce the wines of controlled origin within 70 years.
